Cronomáquina: jogo de tabuleiro com engrenagens

Cronomáquina is a steampunk-inspired board game whose board is made of real, turning wooden gears, created from scratch, from concept to final model.

Developed in a Design Studio class in 2024, the game began from a challenge: to create a board game from scratch based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in our case SDG 10, reduced inequalities, and SDG 16, peace, justice and strong institutions. From there we defined the narrative, the mechanics and the visual identity, arriving at Cronomáquina, where interlocking gears form the board and actually turn with each move.

Every component was designed and produced: laser-engraved wooden character boards (with Strength, Defense, Energy and Luck tracks), cards, tokens, pawns and the box. The result is a complete, playable prototype, from concept to finished object.

The process followed Bruno Munari's method, starting from the problem and breaking it into steps (definition, components, materials, experimentation and prototype), reaching the final solution in a structured yet creative way.
