A signage and wayfinding study for the Centro Cultural São Paulo (CCSP), with inclusion and accessibility as the starting point.
Made in a Design Studio course in 2025, the project started from a mapping of the CCSP to understand flows, spaces and barriers. From there we developed a signage system with pictograms, braille, raised text and floor maps, designed for people with visual impairments, wheelchair users, children and everyone moving through the space.
The system combines room signs, warnings (such as "don't lean on the railing · risk of falling"), orientation totems and per-floor maps, always with redundant information (visual and tactile), so the message reaches everyone. The project is a conceptual study: the mockups show how the signage would work applied to the space.
The pictograms were built from the chosen typeface, Interstate: the letterforms became the basis for the icons (restrooms, accessible, arrows), ensuring visual unity between text and symbol across the whole system.
The process followed the Double Diamond method (discover, define, develop, deliver), grounded in the reading of Jan Gehl's Cities for People, which guided the focus on human scale and the experience of people moving through the space.
